Nouxfest Outdoor Film Festival
Invitation to Nouxfest short film competition
We are excited to announce the Nouxfest Outdoor Film Festival, a celebration of short films that capture the beauty and adventure of outdoor activities. As part of the Nouxfest Outdoor Festival 2024 in Nuuksio, Espoo, Finland, we are organizing a short film competition with an outdoor theme.
We invite filmmakers to submit their short films, up to 8 minutes in length, that showcase the joy of outdoor activities, whether in summer or winter. The genre of the film can be anything from an acted short film to a documentary, music video, landscape film, or even an animation. The film should be related to either summer or winter outdoor activities and should focus on creating a compelling story and atmosphere.
The competition has two categories: summer and winter. A jury will evaluate the films and select the best ones to be awarded and presented at Nouxfest’s evening program. The submission deadline is June 30, 2024, and the jury’s selections will be announced latest by August 4, 2024.

Jury
Teemu Hostikka is known as the creator, screenwriter and executive producer of the award-winning series Love of the Wild and Untold Arctic Wars, and he has also written many other TV productions related to outdoor activities. Teemu is active in the outdoors all year round and works as the creative director of NTRNZ Media Oy, which he founded.
Eeva Mäkinen is a professional photographer and a wilderness and nature guide. Her camera has been with her on her travels for almost 15 years, about half of that as a full-time job. Nature photography has become a beloved profession, which also includes writing work, trips for clients and other client photography, always with an emphasis on nature.
Kim Öhman has supported himself by filming for twenty years. He has photographed for several international outdoor brands and produced an extreme sports magazine program for several seasons. Nowadays, Kim mainly shoots advertising and corporate communications and lives an active outdoor life. His free time is spent driving around in a travel van, photographing landscapes and documenting life on the road.
Rules of the short film competition
- The film must not be more than 8 minutes long.
- The film must be related to outdoor activities.
- The evaluation emphasizes the film’s story and atmosphere.
- There are two categories in the competition: one for films related to summer and one to winter activities. Prizes are awarded in both categories. The number and content of the prizes will be specified later.
- Technical requirements: Landscape format to allow showing on a big screen at the event.
- Participation is free of charge.
- Films can be submitted to the competition until 30 June 2024 at: https://filmfreeway.com/Nouxfest
- The creators of the film are responsible for the film’s copyright.
- By joining, the filmmakers grant Nouxfestil permission to show the film on the big screen during the event and in possible screenings afterwards without separate compensation. Other distribution, e.g. showing the film on Nouxfest’s website, will be agreed separately with the creators.
